talk to me? ...
Exhibited at Dock 11 in Berlin
Talk to me is an interactive sculptute that exposes the “silent” data extraction that hides beneath domestic comfort that turns the domestic fantasy of the smart home against itself. A Raspberry Pi transcribes visitors' spoken words in real time via a voice recognition model, broadcasting the text to a live web interface while GPIO-triggered lighting responds to the user asking to turn on and turn off lights. By making the mechanism of surveillance visible and immediate, the work exposes the quiet data extraction that lives beneath domestic comfort.
Built with a Raspberry Pi running Vosk for offline voice transcription, a bluetooth microphone, Socket.IO for real-time web display, and GPIO relay circuits for lighting control housed inside a paper mache house.
